Tips for Sellers

Appearance Matters!

When it comes to selling your home, nothing beats a good
sprucing up when trying to find a buyer!

If you are like most sellers, you want your house to sell and quickly! That being said, it is important to show it at it’s best. In order to achieve this, check out the following tips:

  • Clean it! Clean it! Clean it! Make kitchens & bathrooms sparkle! Organize and get rid of excess clutter in all areas of your home– including basements and closets! Your house will appear much bigger if it is neat and organized.
  • Make it cozy! Lighting candles & playing soft music creates an inviting atmosphere.
  • Refinish hardwood floors, replace old rugs or carpeting. Flooring that is worn or dingy will reduce a buyer’s appeal of your home.
  • Oil hinges and squeaky doors. Take a moment to be sure that windows, doors and cabinet drawers aren’t loose or don’t stick. These are just easy fixes that could detract from your home’s value.
  • Remove wallpaper and add a fresh coat of paint. This will help a “tired” home look more fresh and bright!
  • Take care of any necessary major repairs such as: replacing an old roof, furnace or windows. The last thing a buyer wants to do is worry about big ticket items after closing on a house.
  • Go for good curb appeal! Paint your front door if it is cracked and peeling. Make sure your lawn and landscaping are trim and manicured! If it has snowed, remove snow & ice from your walkway, steps and driveway. Remember these are the first thing your buyer will see!
Make your home’s first impression, the best impression!
